New York has been the birthplace of many ubiquitous desserts. Cupcakes, cookies, cheesecake, doughnuts and more all had their humble beginnings in New York City. The Dutch brought doughnuts with them; a German immigrant created NYC-style cheesecake; and while cupcakes have been around for around 100 years, the way we enjoy them today is thanks to the NYC bakeries that made them popular in the early 2000s.

Bakers today are just as adventurous in creating new desserts – from the Cronut to birthday cake truffles, banana pudding to brioche doughnuts, NYC is a true melting-pot of desserts and no visit to the Big Apple is complete without sampling them.
