Hampstead

Hampstead

Hampstead is one of my favourite places in London. It feels like a world away from the hustle and bustle of London and is popular with locals and tourists alike. It is full of lovely restaurants, shops, and has a vibrant literary history. Walking the winding streets and charming alleys of Hampstead Village feels like you are exploring a beautiful maze and you get rewarded with the cutest houses and stunning views. As you go wander further from the high street and into the heath London fades into the background and you can enjoy the rambling tree lined paths and wide meadows. If you are planning a visit to Hampstead here are seven of my favourite places to go,Fenton House- A national trust property that has the most charming apple orchard from which they produce their own delicious apple juice. Kenwood House- Nestled into the northern most park of Hampstead Heath, Kenwood house is a stunning home that is free to visit. It has a vibrant history and the cutest pastel library. Le Creperie de Hampstead- This little crepe stand almost always has a line, but it is always worth the wait. They make the most delicious crepes with both savoury and sweet fillings. You can’t go wrong with what your order here, everything is delicious. The Holly Bush- Tucked away on a dead-end street The Holly Bush is one of the coziest and charming pubs around. Enjoy their Sunday roast with the fireplace crackling in the background. Oddonos- The perfect place to stop in for yummy gelato on a warm summer day, or a cool winters day, or any day. Their gelato is delicious year round. Hampstead Bathing Ponds- There are three bathing ponds in the heath, a women’s pond, a men’s pond, and a mixed pond. If you are with your lady friends the ladies bathing pond is the place to go. Enjoy a dip year round if you can bear it, but it is most crowded in the warmer months. The Hill Garden and Pergola- Located right next to the heath is Golders Hill Park, a charming and often less crowded park. It boats a small menagerie and as well as a deer enclosure. However my favouite part is the Hill Garden and Pergola. It feels like an enchanted garden. I highly recommend a visit if you haven’t been. There are so many lovely corners and pockets of Hampstead I haven’t even scratched the surface. I’d love to know what is your favourite thing in Hampstead?
